Working on your goals is not always a walk in the park. It takes a lot of effort and perseverance to stay on track and reach your greatest potential. It’s totally normal to feel overwhelmed, which is why we put together this guide for staying on track.
Make your goals habits
The first step to achieving anything is to set realistic goals. If you don't know where you're going, you'll never get there. But once you decide your goal, the focus then needs to be on consistently following the habitual steps you create in order to make that goal a reality.
Take something like running a marathon for example. There are many training plans for achieving this feat, and a lot of them don't include running a marathon until race day. Instead, those plans break down a regimen that is achievable, realistic, and kind to your body all at once. They are successful because they focus on the individual tasks you must complete to get to that goal.
So if your goal is to lose 10 pounds, don't expect it to happen by setting a plan where your only metric is to lose a pound a week. How? What are the steps you must take each week to make that a possibility? Maybe it's tracking your macros, maybe it's hitting the gym 5 days a week. But whatever it is, put your focus on turning these tasks into habits, and your goal will be closer than you think.
Track your progress
Tracking your progress is an important part of any fitness journey. Taking pictures of yourself at the start and consistently during can help you to see the difference in your body shape and size, and gives you a visual reminder of what you have achieved.
Your mind is powerful, but it can also be deceiving. You might not notice the small changes day to day, but taking pictures helps you physically see the progress you are making.
But don't take just any pictures! We've got a winning formula that will help you see the most progress. Check out this video to learn the in's and out's of taking the best photos for transformation journeys.
Detox your life
Detoxing your life can be a refreshing way to start anew! It's all about replacing negative influences with positive ones.
Most people think of switching out their foods when they think of detoxing, and that is a great start. But there are other elements you are exposed to day to day which can halt progress. Take a look at your self-care and cleaning products and find out where you can make better switches. Skin is your body's biggest organ, so if you want to FEEL well from the inside out, this step can't be overlooked. This article shares some ways you can check your products.
But that's not all. One of the hardest, yet most important steps of detoxification is taking a look at your inner circle. Who are the people you spend the most time with? How do they bring joy, add value, or otherwise impact your life in a positive way? If those answers don't come easily, it may be time to cut ties.
It can be helpful to journal about tougher detoxes, like friends. Making sure you actually take the time to write down and reflect on each and every relationship in your life is absolutely helpful in crushing your goals, but also in setting yourself up for long-term personal growth. Short-term discomfort can make all the difference further down the road. Be willing to give yourself that opportunity.
Find your community
If the last step left you a little short on friendships, don't fret. You are doing something challenging in committing to bettering yourself, and if others aren't going to support you in that journey, then that is their responsibility. There are plenty of ways to build your circle back up with the right influences: people who motivate, encourage, and understand the struggles.
